The 22nd Young Korean Musicians Competition
미국 동북부 필라델피아 지역에서 39년의 역사를 가진 필라델피아 한인 음악인협회에서 오는 2026년 5월 16일 자라나는 청소년들의 예술활동을 지원하고자 “2026년 22회 한인 청소년 음악경연대회”를 개최합니다. 필라델피아를 중심으로 델라웨어 벨리에 살고 있는 역량 있는 청소년 연주자들을 발굴하고 미래를 빛낼 차세대 음악가를 키울 목적으로 이 경연대회를 아래와 같이 실시하고자 합니다.
The Philadelphia Korean Musicians Association (PKMA) is pleased to announce The 22nd Young Korean Musicians Competition 2026, to be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley area. The competition aims to inspire, encourage, and support the upcoming generation of young musicians of Korean descent.

1. 참가 자격
필라델피아를 중심으로 Delaware Valley에 살고 있는
만 6세 이상 18세 미만의 한인 청소년
(부모나 조부모 중 1명이 한국인일 경우 지원 가능)
The competition is open to young musicians of Korean descent, aged 6 to 18 (inclusive), who reside in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley region. Eligibility requires that at least one parent or grandparent be of Korean heritage.

4. 심사위원 현직 음대 교수 또는 국제적으로 알려진 음악계 권위자가 심사합니다.
The panel of judges consists of presently active music school professors and internationally renowned musicians.
*심사의 편견을 피하기 위해 심사위원은 학생을 대회에 참가시킬 수 없습니다.
To ensure impartiality in the judging process, no judge may allow their students to compete.
5. 시상 및 특전
- 전체 대상: 상장 및 상패와 상금 $500 수여 (입상자 연주회에서 전체 1위에게 대상 수여), 음악인 협회 정기연주회에 출연 자격 부여함
- 각 부문별 1위: 상장 및 상패와 입상자 연주회 출연
- 각 부문별 2, 3위: 상장 수여와 입상자 연주회 출연
- 장려상: 상장 수여
*전년도 대상 수상자는 대회에 재 참가할 수 없으며,
전년도 각 부문의 1등 수상자는 같은 디비전(연령대)에 다시 참가할 수 없습니다.
Awards
- Grand Prize The winner of the prize-winning concert is awarded the Grand Prize, which includes a certificate, a plaque, and $500 in prize money.
- First Prize (in each age division): Certificate, plaque, and an opportunity to perform as a winner in a concert.
- Second and Third Prizes (in each age division): Certificate and an opportunity to perform at the Winners Concert.
- Honorable Mention Certificate.
Eligibility Restrictions
First-place winners are ineligible to compete again in the same age division. Grand Prize winners from the previous competition are not permitted to participate.

6. 참가곡: 자유곡 1곡, 단 전체 연주 시간은 10분 이내로 제한 함,
- Arrange 하지 않은 원곡에 한함
- 콘체르토나 소나타 중 1악장 전체를 연주하여야 함 (바로크, 고전, 낭만. 현대시대 중에서 택함) 또는 이에상응 하는 곡
- 모든 곡은 반복없이 암보로 연주함 (단 악곡의 구성상 10마디 이내의 반복은 무방함)
- 모든 참가자는 경연대회를 위해서 반드시 곡 전체를 준비해야 하며, 만약 전체가 아닌 곡의 일부분만 발췌하여 연주할 경우 실격 처리 됩니다.
- 심사위원의 재량에 따라 중간에 연주를 커트 할 수 있음
- 반주 파트는 오리지널 버전으로 연주해야 함 (솔로이스트의 멜로디 라인을 중복 연주할 수 없음)
- 현장 리허설은 없으니 웜업을 하고 와야 합니다.
Repertoire Requirements
Contestants must perform one original composition with a total performance time of 10 minutes or less.
- The work must be an original composition and may not be an arrangement or transcription of another piece.
- The performance must consist of the entire first movement of a concerto, sonata, or an equivalent work from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary periods.
- All pieces must be performed from memory, without repeats.
- Contestants are required to prepare the complete designated work. Any performance of only a partial preparation will result in disqualification.
- The judges reserve the right to stop a performance at any point at their discretion.
- Any accompaniment must be performed in its original version. Duplication of the soloist’s melody line in the accompaniment is not permitted.
- Since an on-site rehearsal will not be possible, please make sure to warm up beforehand.

대상 수상자는 연주하는 동안 정해져서 연주 후 시상하고, 상장과 상패 및 $500 의 상금을 수여받습니다.
- 현장 리허설은 없으니 웜업을 하고 와야 합니다.

Winners Concert Program Structure
The Winners Concert will consist of two parts:
- First Half: Second- and third-place winners in each division will perform their pieces and receive their awards (certificate).
- Intermission
- Second Half: First-place winners in each division will perform their pieces and receive their awards (certificate and plaque).
The Grand Prize winner will be announced and perform during the concert, receiving the Grand Prize (certificate, plaque, and $500 prize money).
Since an on-site rehearsal will not be possible, please make sure to warm up beforehand.

참가 지원서: 우편이나 온라인(Google Form)으로 제출할 수 있습니다.
신청 마감일은 2026년 5월 9일 입니다.
오프라인 신청서는 5월 9일자 소인이 찍혀 있는 것만 유효하며,
온라인 신청은 5월 9일 밤 11:59 까지 제출된 것만 인정됩니다.
5월 9일 이후에 소인이 찍혀 있는 모든 우편 지원서와 밤 11시 59분 이후에 제출된 온라인 신청서는 $25의 연체료가 부과됩니다.

- Online applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on May 9, 2026.
- Late Applications: Applications submitted or postmarked after 11:59 p.m. on May 9, 2026, will be subject to a $25 late fee.

10. 유의 사항
•참가 신청서에 참가 곡목을 정확히 기입할 것(곡목, 작곡자, 연주 시간)
•모든 참가자들은 본인이 연주할 곡의 악보나 책을 반드시 지참하여야 한다.
•페이스북 홈(Philadelphia Korean Musicians Association)에서 확인 가능
•참가비와 서류는 반환하지 않음
•심사결과에 따라 기준 미달 시 입상자가 없을 수도 있으며,
입상자가 입상자 연주에 불참할 경우 대상 수상에서 제외 됨
•전화번호와 이메일은 항상 연락 가능한 번호로 기입할 것
•심사위원들의 심사 평은 비공개로 하며, 심사결과는 최종 결정으로 번복 할 수 없고, 어필할 수 없음.
•수상 발표는 5월 16일 이후에 PKMA 웹사이트에서 확인 할 수 있다.
•신청 마감일: 2026년 5월 9일 (당일 소인 유효) 우편접수
•서류 미비 시 접수 불가능
*중요 공지: 입상자는 반드시 5월 17일 밤 11:59 까지 입상자 음악회 참석여부를 협회에 알려야 합니다. 참석여부를 알리지 않을시 수상에서 제외됩니다.
Additional Notes
- Ensure that all repertoire information (title, composer, and approximate performance length) is accurately and completely entered on the application form.
- Contestants are required to bring sheet music scores of the pieces they will perform to the competition.
- All application fees are non-refundable.
- If performance standards are not met, it is possible that no winners will be selected in a given category.
- The winner must attend the Winners Concert in person to receive their prize. Failure to attend will result in disqualification from receiving the award.
- Applicants must provide complete contact information, including a phone number and email address.
- Judges’ evaluations and comments remain confidential. The judges’ decisions are final and are not subject to appeal or reconsideration.
- Competition results will be posted on the PKMA website following the conclusion of judging on May 16, 2026.
- The application deadline is May 9, 2026.
- Incomplete applications will be considered void and will not be accepted.
Additional Requirement: After the competition results are announced on the PKMA website, all winners are required to confirm their attendance at the Winners Concert by Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Failure to confirm attendance may result in forfeiture of the award.
